The SonEQ from Sonimus is a parametric equalizer with three bands. It’s not designed as a surgical tool for pure equalization and removal of unwanted frequencies, but colors the input signal in the style of classic analog equalizers
Among other things, the built-in preamp contributes to the characteristic sound, which ensures a slight saturation.
This can be further enhanced by the optionally available bass booster in conjunction with the drive control and provides a thicker sound especially for basses.
Together with the good-sounding preamp, the input signal can be wonderfully colored and thickened.
With two steep-edge filters, you can clean up the signal in frequency prior to further processing.
In this way, you can create a more transparent sound by lowering the very high and low frequencies without audibly affecting the character of the incoming audio signal.
Each of the three EQ bands for the low, mid and high frequencies has its own character.
Here you can hear that the developer has been inspired by various cult equalizers, integrating the merits of each model into the SonEQ.
The Pro version further extends this concept and is also worth a recommendation due to the low price of 59 euros.
SonEQ is a free equalizer with its own character, based on vintage analog hardware. This makes the plug-in a welcome addition to the existing equalizers in every DAW.
