Developed by Applied Acoustics Systems, Ultra Analog gain its place on the market and won the sympathy of many music producers and sound designers since the release of the first version. What makes this is the quality of sound and that Ultra Analog VA-2 is very intuitive and easy to use. In just a few minutes after you open this plugin, you will learn what each section, button, and controller do.
Compared with the first version, Ultra Analog VA-2 brings many improvements and innovations (new filter and Vintage Chorus, EQ, and a new compressor) which gives some strengths besides other virtual synthesizers on the market.
The GUI is quite nice with knobs well placed and visible although the entire Ultra Analog VA-2 interface is not very big (quite small than the first version). At the top row are the volume, patch selection, and metering. Also, you will find the Play, Edit, and FX that will help you to navigate between 3 pages, associated with each button.
The main modulation sources are two LFOs, two filter envelope generators, and two amplifier EGs. All are well specified, but only routable to similarly numbered target modules (LFO 1 can’t be routed to a parameter on Filter 2).
Ultra Analog features two filters that are very flexible and allow you to make many combinations from the low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and format in both series or parallel routing.
Full compatibility is ensured by many formats in which this plugin is available: VST, AU, RTAS, AAX, Standalone.
To run smoothly Ultra Analog VA-2 does not need to have any “UFO” under the desk. Will go perfectly on a system with a processor, either 32 or 64 bit, 512 MB of RAM, 70 MB of free hard drive space, Windows/MAC compatible audio interface.
