Reason 12.5 Update Adds VST3 Support

Reason Studios released version 12.5 of Reason today. Among other news, Reason 12.5 adds VST3 support to the standalone music-making software part of Reason. This allows Reason users to use any VST3 instrument, effect, or utility plugin with the standalone Reason music-making software, both on Mac and Windows computers.

“We firmly believe there’s no right way to make music. Musicians and producers mix and match to create their own unique set-up. With VST3 support, music makers can now use the latest versions of their favorite VST plugins in Reason—just like how music makers in other DAWs can use Reason Rack Plugin as a VST3, AU or AAX.” said Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Music Making Product Manager

In addition to the added VST3 support for the standalone Reason music-making software, version 12.5 also increases the number of available audio inputs, outputs, and automatable parameters for any VST hosted in Reason, as well as other minor updates and bug fixes. Reason 12.5 is available immediately and is a free update to all Reason 12 and Reason+ users.

With a new look, a new format, and new rack devices for creative sample manipulation, Reason 12 is all about creatively producing your music. The brand-new Mimic Creative Sampler takes a sample manipulation approach as you’ve never seen before. Super creative and great fun to work with! Time-stretching samples can be done using Reason’s legendary stretch algorithm, along with new granular and tape modes.

And of course, the Reason Racks can also be used as plugins as in Reason 11 as instruments and FX in VST, AU, and AAX format with all known DAWs.
