Waves Codex – Competition for Massive and Serum!

Wicked Dubstep basses, screeching leads, shimmering arpeggios, endlessly evolving pads, as well as impressively animated textures – all this and much more is possible with Waves Codex.

This wavetable synthesizer entices with a multi-faceted sound generation including WAV import, a user-friendly interface and an inspiring arpeggiator. Our software highlight of this month is a real guarantor for fresh sounds far removed from analog standards.

Also on board: RetroMod LoFreq – Filthbox à la Moog & 0-Coast

Tracktion’s RetroMod series brings the sound of popular analog and digital synthesizers to your DAW. Our software highlight is dedicated to eleven popular synthesizers from 2009 to today, including Moog Grandmother, Dreadbox Erebus V3, Arturia MiniBrute 2, Doepfer Dark Energy II and Analogue Solutions Telemark V2. Look forward to powerful analog sounds that don’t just deliver „down low”!

Hands-on: Psytrance – A track from start to finish

Crispy beats, staccato basslines and powerful, psychedelic hooklines – Psytrance has lost nothing of its fascination since the early nineties and continues to attract a huge fan base. Of course, we’re making a contemporary track that shows Psytrance at its best.

Interviews: Ela Minus, Anja Schneider, Fotos, Egopusher

“Have courage to mute!” – Ela Minus’s debut is inspired by creating simple human interactions with technology. Danny Turner dissects her minimalist approach.

DJs and booking agencies have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. Not only are they faced with an occupational ban. They also lack political representation. To get their concerns heard, 170 agencies and 2,000 artists have set up “Booking United”. Anja Schneider is one of the new organisation’s most familiar and passionate spokespersons. In her interview with Tobias Fischer, she comes to a sad conclusion: So far, the political response has been an almost complete failure.

Lots of reviews and workshops!

We tested the new hardware Korg opsix, UDO Super 6, Arturia MicroFreak Vocoder, PreSonus Atom SQ, Zoom V3, Vochlea Dubler Studio Kit, the 303-sequencer Chronovore for your modular rack, as well as Arturia’s V-Collection 8, TAL’s Jupiter clone TAL J-8 and Guitar Rig 6 has to compete with IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 in a versus-review.

Surprisingly good content. Still some weird translation errors (mostly grammar stuff) that catches you off guard because its otherwise excellent. I dislike the clickable changes though. It feels a bit like website ad abuse.. Have to trial an error to find an area to open up the app many in iBooks while reading many pages.
