AudioThing has released a few days ago a new plugin named Outer Verb.
As you guessed from its name it’s a new reverb effect audio plugin for Windows and MAC that emulates the reverb tank of a famous vintage tape echo from the early 70’s – the Roland Space Echo RE-201.
The Space Echo was an instant hit. Compared to any previous tape echo, The Space Echo was reliable and sturdy enough to travel. Musicians like Setzer or Bob Marley’s band used this reverb effect from Roland for deep and throbbing echoes.
To recreate the original spring reverb tone of the Roland’s Space Echo RE-201, Outer Verb plugin uses a combination of convolution and modelling techniques. Also, the EQ section from the original Space Echo has been included, which can be used to affect the wet reverb signal. You can introduce some warm saturation before the reverb effect by pushing the input stage.
The user interface is very well designed, keeping the original colors and filling of the Space Echo RE-201 unit (see the pictures above).
- Vintage Spring Reverb
- Two decay settings: short and long
- EQ (Bass, Treble)
- Background Noise with Envelope
- Lightweight on CPU
- Preset system with randomizer
Outer Verb plugin from AudioThing is available now for PC and Mac in VST/AU/AAX plugin formats via Plugin Boutique – one of the best plugin store online.
