Musikmesse 2018: Clavia Announces Nord Piano 4

Clavia Nord Piano 4

The Swedish manufacturer Clavia intros this year at the Musikmesse 2018 event their new Nord Piano 4 – the fourth generation of Clavia’s award-winning Piano series.

Clavia Nord Piano 4 was increased to 120 voices, but the icing on the cake in terms of new features is definitely the new “Creative Piano Filters”.

This adjusts the sound character of the piano sounds, such as softness, mids, or brilliance.

The appearance is strikingly similar to the previous version. Although there is room for some improvements to align with other modern pianos, the manufacturer kept the same red simple and functional design – this is not necessarily a wrong thing.

The sample synth section was increased. This can now manage 512 MB of sounds – at least twice as much as the Nord Piano 3 – and supports the current Sample Library 3.0.

In terms of effects, Clavia has given the reverb of Nord Pianos 4 a bright fashion. This can be additionally activated after selecting the desired preset (Room, Stage, Hall).

Further improvements and updates are available in the area of “Seamless Transition”.

A new feature is the Split Point Crossfade function, already known from Stage 3, which allows you to morph the two split sounds into one another, with three different transitional shapes to choose from.

Apart from that, Clavia has been working on the organization of presets at the Nord Piano 4 and the Nord Piano now has a numeric field to select presets directly.

Let’s recap the most important new features included in the new version:

  • Seamless Transitions
  • Layer and Split with Split Point crossfades
  • Enhanced Organize Mode
  • 512 MB Memory for Nord Sample Library 3.0
  • Numeric Pad for direct Program access
  • Greatly expanded Polyphony
  • Reverb with Bright Mode
  • Greatly expanded Polyphony (120 voices)
  • Creative Piano Filters

Clavia’s Nord Piano 4 scores points with a significantly expanded polyphony, a better triple-sensor keyboard and new performance options including split-point crossfades and more.

The Clavia Nord Piano 4 is expected in stores this summer. We currently do not have any price information, but I assume it will be available for 2000 Euro, more or less.
