Producers use 808 bass sounds for various reasons, but one of the main reasons is that they provide a powerful and deep low-end that can drive a track and add energy and excitement to a beat. The 808 bass sound has become a staple of modern music production, particularly in hip-hop, trap, and electronic dance music (EDM) genres.
Hip-hop and trap music producers often use 808 bass sounds to create the foundation of their beats. The 808 bass provides a solid and consistent low-end that can be easily manipulated to create different rhythms and grooves. In EDM genres such as techno, house, and dubstep, 808 bass sounds are often used to create heavy and driving basslines that are essential to the energy of the track.
In addition to hip-hop, trap, and EDM, 808 bass sounds can be found in many other genres, including pop, rock, and R&B. The versatility of the 808 bass sound makes it a popular choice for producers across a wide range of musical styles.
Overall, the 808 bass sound has become a key element in modern music production, thanks to its ability to provide a powerful and dynamic low-end that can drive a track and add excitement and energy to a beat.
FL Studio is known for its versatility and ease of use when it comes to creating a wide range of sounds, including 808 basses. There are several plugins in FL Studio that you can use to create an 808 bass sound.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create an 808 bass sound inside your FL Studio using Sytrus, which is a powerful synthesizer, and we use Sytrus a lot when working on different projects. It can be used to create a variety of sounds, including 808 bass sounds. Sytrus allows you to manipulate various parameters such as the waveform, filter, and envelope to shape your sound.
Let’s begin…
To get an 808 bass in FL Studio, you can follow these steps: Open FL Studio and create a new project. Add a new instrument to the channel rack by clicking the “+” button and selecting “Sytrus” and the next step you must take into account is to load the “Default” preset from the presets browser.
Then, in the Sytrus interface, select the first operator (OP1) and set the waveform to “sine” by clicking on the dropdown menu in the top left corner of the operator.
Set the ratio of OP1 to “0.5” by dragging the slider or entering the value in the Ratio field. Set the volume of OP1 to “0 dB” by dragging the slider or entering the value in the Vol field.
Turn off all other operators except for OP1 by clicking on the blue “on” buttons to the left of each operator.
Adjust the filter settings to your liking. You can experiment with the cutoff frequency and resonance settings to shape the sound of the bass.
Add effects such as distortion, saturation, or compression to enhance the bass sound. Set the cutoff frequency of the LP filter to around 150 Hz by dragging the cutoff knob or entering the value in the Cutoff field.
Then go to the “Pitch” and set it as in the image above. Play notes on your MIDI controller or computer keyboard to hear the 808 bass sound. And this is just the beginning. Now you can add more filters and manipulate the sound until you get the desired result.
There are other several plugins in FL Studio that you can also use to create an 808 bass sound, such as Harmor, 3xOSC, or the FPC drum machine.
You can also use third-party 808 plugins or 808 bass samples to create an 808 bass in FL Studio. There are many tutorials available online that demonstrate how to create an 808 bass using different methods and tools.
