Beat Zampler RX is a free sampler plugin that includes a variety of ways to sculpt and manipulate REX and SFZ sounds and samples. Zampler RX offers numerous advantages in music production. Low CPU consumption despite complex sounds and thousands of free samples are among the most powerful arguments.
Zampler RX processes the widespread formats SFZ and REX for which there are numerous free sounds on the Internet. Beat Magazine also provides some sound banks each month, with which you can start immediately. Of course, you can also import and use your own sound creations in the appropriate formats.
What makes the Zampler even more exciting is its extra features and controls, which is rather rare in a free sampler workstation. The four filters (lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and bandstop) all come from Synapse Audio’s Dune synthesizer and allow targeted sonic interventions on the samples and thus enable a broad sound spectrum. There are three ADSR envelopes for filter, amp, and modulation. Three LFOs with four different waveforms can also be included in the sound design.
The Beat Zampler RX music software also has some good effects. In addition to delay, chorus, phaser, and equalizer, there are also reverb and drive (twist or tone-coloring amplifier). As far as the quality of the effects is concerned, there really can’t be complained about. For a free sampler plugin, these are surprisingly good and the CPU consumption is also limited.
Other highlights are the mod matrix and the arpeggiator. Up to twelve sources can be routed and combined within the Mod Matrix. Almost every parameter of the Zampler RX can be routed to a total of 31 destinations, which opens up an incredible number of possibilities for sound design. This allows even harmless static samples to be transformed into lively and varied sounds.
The internal arpeggiator actually works like a step sequencer, offers 32 steps and various playback scenarios (chord, one shot, duophonic, dynamic, simple and modulation). If you only want to use the arpeggiator, you will find some ready-made styles under User Pattern. So you are not forced to use the Step Sequencer. If you want to breathe the right groove into the finished sequence, you can do this using the swing parameter. The mod matrix is the heart of the Zampler RX!
Conclusion
A free sampler plugin with such a range of functions and a really solid sound character makes the Zampler RX a real surprise. If you are looking for a sample player for SFZ and REX files, this is the right plugin for you. FL Studio users should also take a closer look at Zampler RX because it may replace the internal Directwave player as an SFZ player. Absolute freeware and currently there is no better SFZ player.
