SampleScience releases Orion Sound Module, a freeware rompler virtual instrument based on public samples that can be used as royalty-free. It features 3Gb of great sounds from pianos, basses, percussion to the analog synthesizer, and modular synthesis.
“At first, I made the plugin for my own loop production but I decided to share it with the world in the spirit of giving back to the community that gave me so much.”
The user interface looks pretty nice, its simple and intuitive with controls fro Pan, Velocity, Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release, Glide, and of course, a Volume control. From the main display, you can browse the preset library, tweak the LFO, or add more reverb to your sound. In total, there are 64 instruments, collected from different public sources. All loops and samples are 100% royalty-free so you can use them in any commercial or personal productions.
UPDATE: Orion Sound Module has been updated to v1.1: More than 30 new instruments have been added, loop points have been fixed on some of the older instruments, the drum kits are now GM MIDI compatible, and more! The new version adds more sound, but some of the older sounds were removed. v1.1 is also compatible with the older version.
This free plugin is available in VST, AU (32/64 bit) plugin format for Windows and MAC OS, and can be downloaded from SampleScience website.
