Cinesamples has released Jerry’s Pianos, a free piano library for NI Kontakt featuring two Steinway Grand Pianos recorded at the Sony Scoring Stage, simultaneously.
This library was created by sampling sustains and staccatos from two pianos wich were placed in deep orchestral position on the violin side slightly wider than the French Horn section.
Quite often, many composers use two pianos in their compositions, one example would be John Williams who used two soli pianos to score the arrival of the AT-AT’s during the Imperial Assault on Hoth in Star Wars – The Empire Strikes Back movie or by Don Davis who used two pianos in quasi-arpeggiating motifs during the chase scene in his Matrix Trilogy.
Cinesamples captured two pianos placed in deep orchestral position on the violin side slightly wider than the French Horn section. To record these piano samples, Cinesamples has used a simple microphone setup: a Decca Tree, a close mic on each piano and a pair of wide mics. Also, they have used two mixes: a concert position mix and a wide stereo mix where the close mics was panned hard left and right.
You can use these piano samples in any music productions, from Hip Hop, RnB, Pop to Cinematic scores, to add more tension to your tracks.
