Cakewalk SONAR Is Back and Now It’s Free!

After those from Bandlab took over Gibson’s recently closed company Cakewalk, the iconic SONAR DAW will continue to exist and it’s now available for free under the name “Cakewalk by BandLab“.

No one expected this move from the company. But the news is as real as possible, so it deserves full attention.

The new version is a streamlined version of Sonar Platinum, with all features of the big version: 64-bit mixing engine (not for audio), ProChannel plug-in, ARA support, VST3 support … everything is in there!

Also, the feature updates will be available free of charge. Sounds too good!

Currently, Cakewalk by BandLab is available only for Windows, whether the OSX version ever appears remains questionable.
