Dutch brand FabFilter has updated its delay plugin with Timeless 3. The latest version promises a warmer sound and includes five new effect modules, six filters, and an updated graphical interface that makes it easier to create sound reflections. The analog modeling algorithms have been reworked, resulting in, according to reps, “the warmest filters and smoothest saturation.”
The Timeless 3 GUI has also been completely redesigned. Now conveys full visual information and provides instant full-screen setup.
There are five new onboard effects modules: “Drive” and “Lo-fi” are great for adding analog saturation and digital distortion; Diffuse can soften and blur sounds; “Dynamics” will compress the dynamics of the reflections; “Pitch” can shift the feedback up or down an octave. You can use XLFO Timeless 3, envelopes, XY controls, MIDI CC, and more to put these effects into action.
Timeless 3 has tripled the number of filters available in Timeless2 and now offers six multimode filters. You can use these to shape the delay tone using the Treble, Bass, Shelf, and Notch modes. Filters can be routed in series or parallel, with three filters on each channel for interesting stereo delays. An entirely new library of presets includes instrument-specific patches, doubled echoes, spacious reverbs, and experimental special effects.
Fabfilter Timeless 3 is available for $129 (VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and AudioSuite for macOS and Windows).
