Ardour 5.0 DAW have been released for Linux, MAC OS X and Windows.
I suppose many of you have not heard about this music software. Let’s present a brief history:
The first version of Ardour (v0.99) was first released in 2001 and it has been a digital audio workstation application for 15 years on Linux, and OS X since 2006. The first Windows build took place about 5 years ago, and it has been available, unsupported, for use on Windows for the last year or so. It is also the technology base for two commercial products, Harrison Mixbus and Waves Tracks Live – says Paul Davis.
What Ardour can do? Well, it can be used as any modern music software for recording, mixing, editing and mastering audio and MIDI projects. It’s a flexible and versatile DAW allowing you to produce music, mix video soundtracks in a multi-track recording environment.
The major update on the Ardour 5.0 version is Windows support and a substantial change to the user interface. Ardour 5.0 supports VST, AU, LinuxVST and LADSPA plugin formats. Toward other DAWs, Ardour can be used on all platforms (this can be his major strength).
Ardour DAW is an open source, collaborative project – the development is transparent, anyone can contribute.
