Plogue releases Alter/Ego, a new freeware voice synthesizer plugin available as VST, AU, RTAS/AAX plugin and even as a standalone software for both Windows and MAC users.
Alter/Ego synth is based on Plogue’s Chipspeech platform, but instead of targeting Vintage voice technology, it focuses on more ‘modern’ singing synthesis algorithms and research.
“Chipspeech is a vintage-style speech synthesizer developed by Plogue and recreates the sound of famous 80′s voice synthesis chips. This platform features 8 different voices, each with its own characteristic timbre. chipspeech also features a circuit bending emulation, letting you not only recreate the insane and chaotic sound of a circuit bent TI speaking device, but also use it in a controlled, musical way.”
The Alter/Ego synth was created for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard.
The sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances. Alter/Ego can be a very useful tool for many music producers!

For now Alter/Ego has just one voice available – Daisy (a virtual robot created by Crusher-P and Giraffey). More voice banks are expected to be available soon.
This vocal synthesizer plugin is available for Windows and MAC in VST, AU, RTAS/AAX 32-bit & 64-bit plugin format, as a standalone application. And more importantly it is FREE!
